THE CORCORAN WASHINGTON DC

IMPRINTING DIMENSIONAL STATES OF BEING

The mural titled Imprinting Dimensional States of Being at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design showcases the history of the local Piscataway tribe, a Native American group who historically and presently call the District their home and now spans the length of George Washington University’s Flagg Building.

This work was created in collaboration with members of the Piscataway Nation residing in Washington DC at the Corcoran school of Art and Design. This mural is in honor of the Piscataway people whose ancestral land the US capital exists upon. This work touches upon the complexities of the Piscataway's experience of bombardment by colonizers since early settlers began to pour onto turtle island. This work also touches upon some members deep roots in activism, diversity and the resilience  of survival in the hub of colonization.

Special thanks to Sebi and Gabrielle Tayac.
